
Erg Cherbbi is one of Morocco’s several large seas of Dunes formed by windblown sand, located at the western edge of the Sahara Desert in the continent of Africa.

I climbed up the Wangu Pavilion located on Lion Hill within the ancient town of Lijiang, part of Yunnan Province in China to capture this view of the rooftops of the old houses.

Onboard a quiet electric boat that set out from Husavik, the Whale Capital of Iceland nestled on the edge of Skjalfandi Bay. The high sighting rate of whales in this area is attributed to its thriving eco-system where melting snow and rivers bring nutrients from the mineral rich locations that meet three ocean currents in the bay. Plankton, krill and fish flourish here attracting the gentle giants of the sea. We encountered three Humpback whales encircling the fish and the petrels were swooping in and having a field day!

Peeking out into the pristine gardens of the Tamozawa Imperial Villa in Nikko, Tochigi Prefecture in Japan. This villa was constructed for Emperor Taisho in 1899 and is one of the largest wooden buildings in Japan that blends the architecture of Edo, Meiji and Taisho era. It also served as a hideout for Emperor Hirohito during WWII.

Full autumn colours at the Hyangwonjeong Pavilion “Pavilion of Far-Reaching Fragrance”. This pretty, two storey hexagonal structure was built around 1873 on the order of King Gojong when the Geoncheonggung residence was built to the north within Gyeongbokung Palace in Seoul, South Korea.

Traditional Tagine pottery which consists of two parts: a circular base unit that is flat with low sides and a large cone or dome shaped cover that sits on the base during cooking. Tagines are cooked slowly over hot charcoal to keep the stew simmering gently and are typically made with meat, poultry or fish together with vegetables and fruit combined with an assortment of spices. Wat Rong Khun or the White Temple is a Buddhist temple situated in Pa O Don Chai, Chiang Rai Province, Thailand. This dazzling structure is created by a blend of whitewash and mirrored chips embedded in the plaster. Crossing the Bridge, foregoing temptation, greed and desire to arrive at the “Gate of Heaven” on the other side.

Otaru Canal in Hokkaido, Japan was thriving and an integral part of the city’s port in the first half of the 20th century for transporting goods to the warehouses along this waterway. With modernity, dock facilities have allowed for direct unloading of larger vessels and the warehouses were transformed in the 1980s into museums, shops and restaurants.

Panoramic shot taken at Russenes in Finnmark County of Norway along the E69 Highway where the Olderfjord Turistsenter AS is situated. Here I am standing at the waters edge of Porsanger Fjord at sunset. This 123km fjord is Norway’s fourth longest and empties out into the Barents Sea.

Pier at the base of Penglai Pavilion in Yantai, Shandong Province China. In Chinese mythology, Penglai is where the “Eight Immortals cross the sea” where they live on Mount Penglai and the Bohai Sea. On Sun May 8, 2006 thousands of tourists and locals witnessed a mirage of a bustling city off the shores of Penglai City that lasted over 4 hours. Apparently mirage sightings have been recorded in Shandong Peninsula throughout history and is touted as the dwelling place of the gods.

The Grotto is a sinkhole geological formation located at Peterborough along the Great Ocean Road in Victoria, Australia. After descending a few flights of steps, we spy at low tide a pool, a beautiful reflection of the arch and the ocean .

Okinawa’s Churaumi Aquarium is one of the largest in the world. These Whale Sharks are fish and not mammals and they are the largest known extant fish species which can live between 80 to 130 years and the largest recorded one was 18.8m long.

Wuyishan or Mount Wuyi is situated in Fujian Province of China. It is a popular destination for tourist and the main attraction is the Bamboo rafting experience that takes you on the 9-Bend River to view the range’s 36 peaks. A UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999, its outstanding biodiversity and cultural significance is evident by the many monasteries and temples hidden in the valleys and mountainsides venerated by Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism alike. Wuyi is also important for its Oolong tea cultivation.

Was enthralled by this all glass chapel located at the JAL Okuma Private Beach Resort in Kunigami, Okinawa Japan. Our 2 night’s stay at the chalet was very pleasant and quiet with practically the entire resort and beach all to ourselves. A cute place to hold an intimate and romantic wedding.

Chanced upon this phenomenon known as Cloud iridescence, a type of Photometeor and it is fascinating to see colours resembling those seen in a soap bubble or oil on a water surface suspended in the sky. It usually appears close to the Sun or Moon.

Caught the cable car ride on Narvikfjellet up at the top of Narvik where there is a restaurant, starting point for skiing and also Northern Lights hunting. Here you can get panoramic views of the deep fjords, high mountains, the historic ore harbour and Narvik cityscape. At night it’s the dazzling lights that captivate!

Shirakawago is a small mountain village located in Ono District of Gifu Prefecture, Japan. This traditional gassho-zukuri village features Minka or folk houses characterised by their basic structure, thatched roof structure and steep shape. It was inscribed a UNESCO world Heritage Site i together with another historical village Gokayama in 1995.
